Completed undergraduate degree is Applied Economics and Business Management, along side Biological sciences at Cornell University in three years, followed by a year of Molecular Science research.  She chose to purse a career of helping others in the field of medicine at St. Georges University.  She then followed her passion to help those with mental anguish in the field of psychiatry at Stony Brook University.  As chief resident, she focused on medical student and resident education, which she continues to pursue as faculty at her current institution.  She continues to work on make a change in people's lives, one patient at a time as an attending psychiatrist in a leading hospital in NYC.  She functions as the Director of Inpatient Services with a specialized training in women's health.

Dr. Baxi is a strong proponent of providing holistic, individualized care.  She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive therapy, insight oriented therapy, motivational interviewing, stress management, sleep hygiene, alongside psychopharmacology when deemed necessary amongst other modalities of treatment. 


Dr. Ami Baxi specializes in treating psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, depression, anxiety, women's health, perinatal psychiatry (prenatal, pregnancy, postpartum), insomnia, trauma, cultural concerns, and relational stressors.
